Cannon Project P.2

This is a continuation of my Cannon Project. For this step, I cleaned up my previous proxy into a game-ready resolution.

I aligned my camera view with the reference to double check that the proportions of the cannon were correct.

VR Project P.1

For this project, my team is making a Harry Potter-themed virtual reality scene. The scene is set in Dumbledore's office, where the player can pick up horcruxes from a desk and interact with Dumbledore's pet phoenix named Fawkes.

I am responsible for modeling Fawkes and the stand he sits upon. I also help with environmental props on occasion. Here are my renders:

Cannon Project P.1

For this project, I am following the art pipeline in detail to create a game-ready cannon prop.

Process

First, I created a PureRef board of possible cannon ideas.

Out of these ideas, I chose one of the images from Pinterest.

I was unable to find the original artist of this cannon, unfortunately. However, I did find a post (linked here) of a miniature figure set with a similar shape.

Simple Crate P.3

For this project, I textured my crate model in Substance Painter and brought it into Unreal Engine to create my final high-resolution screenshot.

Use of Composition

For this project, I practiced using composition rules in my artwork.

Process

First, I picked a couple artists that inspired me to help guide the style for this piece. I chose Brian Froud as my main inspiration, and Frank Frazetta, Eyvind Earle, and Creature Box as background inspiration.

Next, I followed the practices that my class has been studying for the past few weeks.

1. I blocked out basic shapes.

2. I filled in the shapes to make sure the silhouette was recognizable, and made adjustments where needed.

3. I established my value separation with color.

4. I used the squint test to check if the lighting led the eye where I intended.
5. I used fog to emphasize the differences between the foreground, midground, and background.
6. I followed the L-shaped composition style to make an overall interesting illustration.

Simple Crate Part 2

This project is a continuation of my previous simple crate project found here.

I brought my previous crate model into ZBrush to sculpt a high-resolution version of the model. From there, I decimated it and exported it again to add UVs in Maya. I then used Substance Painter to bake the high-resolution mesh onto the low-resolution model.

Here are my low-res crate and UVs.

Character Project 2 - P.3

For this project, I am modeling a plague mask based off of a concept made by  AbyssalBrews  (source linked.) In the first step, I made a pro...
